Instead of downloading a static file, you see the current state of the world: recent earthquakes, active weather alerts, aircraft positions, and more.
Are these live maps free to use?
Yes. Every map on this page is free, requires no registration, and runs entirely in your browser. Data is fetched through our own cached proxy endpoints so the original providers are not overwhelmed by repeat requests.
How often does the data refresh?
Each source has its own natural cadence: aircraft and lightning positions refresh every 30-60 seconds, earthquakes every minute, wildfires every 5 minutes, weather alerts every 2 minutes, and orbital elements hourly. The map shows an as-of timestamp so you always know how fresh the view is.
Can I view all live data sources on a single map?
Yes. Click the 'Open All-in-One Live Map' button at the top of the page to launch our unified situational awareness command map (/live/map/), where all 29 layers can be viewed and correlated simultaneously.
Can I download the data behind a live map?
Yes. Every live map exposes its current data as normalized GeoJSON, and the files can be opened in the GeoDataViewer studio (/studio) to inspect attributes, filter features, and convert between formats such as Shapefile, KML, and GeoPackage.
