Free Online GeoJSON Freehand Draw Tool

Draw freehand lines and shapes on a map. Hold and drag to draw naturally, release to finish. Export as GeoJSON LineString. Free, no upload.

What is Freehand?

Freehand drawing allows you to draw lines naturally by holding the mouse button and dragging across the map. The tool records every mouse movement point to create a dense LineString. Freehand is ideal for sketching rough boundaries, tracing features from imagery, or creating organic shapes without placing individual vertices.

How to draw

To draw Freehand, select the Freehand mode. Press and hold the mouse button on the map, drag to draw, and release to finish. The tool captures all intermediate points for a smooth line.

Common uses

Freehand drawing is used for quick sketching, tracing features from satellite imagery, creating approximate boundaries, educational demonstrations, and any scenario where precise vertex placement is not required.

GeoJSON output

Each geometry is converted to standard GeoJSON (RFC 7946) format with WGS84 coordinates. Copy or download the output for use in any GIS or mapping application.

All geometry types

This tool supports all 12 geometry types: Point, Polyline, Polygon, Freehand, StraightArrow, DiagonalArrow, DoveTailArrow, DoubleArrow, ClosedCurve, Sector, GatheringPlace, and PlotLineString.

Privacy

All drawing and GeoJSON generation happens entirely in your browser. No data is sent to any server. Your geographic data stays on your device.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is freehand drawing?
Freehand drawing lets you draw lines by dragging the mouse, capturing every point along the path for a natural drawing experience.
How is freehand different from Polyline?
Polyline requires you to click each vertex individually. Freehand captures continuous mouse movement for smoother, more natural lines.
Can I draw polygons freehand?
Freehand creates LineString geometry. For area shapes, use the Polygon mode.
