Clean CSV & Excel Coordinates to KML

Your sheet mixes DMS and decimal degrees, uses unclear column names, or has latitude and longitude in the wrong columns.

How to use this tool

  1. 1. Choose a table and worksheet, then select the two coordinate columns.
  2. 2. Review the accepted point preview and rejected rows. Swap column selections if order is wrong.
  3. 3. Download accepted points and the rejected-row report; inspect a known location in Studio.

Limits and checks before sharing

  • Accepts decimal degrees, DMS and hemisphere suffixes, with an optional GPS:/lat:/lon: prefix. Arbitrary mixed text is rejected.
  • Coordinates that fit both latitude and longitude ranges are ambiguous. The tool cannot infer the correct order; verify known locations.
  • No address geocoding or projected coordinate reprojection. Use the EPSG converter for projected coordinates. Blank and invalid rows are reported, never silently repaired.

If processing fails, check the file extension and source contents. Use a smaller batch if memory runs low. The original files are never overwritten. Inspect known locations and attributes before sharing a result.

Frequently asked questions

Can this fix reversed coordinates automatically?

You select which column means latitude and longitude, and can swap those choices. Values outside the permitted ranges are rejected. If both orders are plausible, only a known location can settle it.

What happens to messy headers or text in coordinate cells?

Headers are shown as read so you can map them explicitly. Recognized coordinate prefixes and DMS symbols are supported. Other text is rejected rather than guessed.

Are invalid rows included in the KML?

No. Only accepted rows are exported as points. Download the rejected-row report to correct and retry the others. Original row values are retained as attributes.

Are my files uploaded, and do I need an account?

No. This file operation runs in your browser and needs no account or payment. The page and processing libraries need an initial network load. Opening a map preview can request external map tiles; linked resources in your original KML are not fetched or embedded by this tool.
