Merge KML Files Online

Combine daily GPS exports, files from several field workers, or separate project layers so the recipient opens one KML.

How to use this tool

  1. 1. Choose at least two KML files.
  2. 2. Review the source list and run Merge.
  3. 3. Download merged.kml, open it in Studio, and check the folders and known locations.

Limits and checks before sharing

  • KML only. Extract KMZ with the KMZ to KML tool first; keep relative image paths and assets together.
  • Combines features; it does not dissolve boundaries or remove duplicates.
  • NetworkLinks, tours and overlays remain XML but are not fetched or validated. Keep the original files.

If processing fails, check the file extension and source contents. Use a smaller batch if memory runs low. The original files are never overwritten. Inspect known locations and attributes before sharing a result.

Frequently asked questions

Will merging erase names, attributes or styles?

The merger copies source XML into separate folders, retaining ExtendedData, geometry and style definitions. Local style and schema IDs are renamed together with references. External styles and relative assets still depend on their original resources.

Will overlapping shapes or duplicate points be removed?

No. Merging concatenates source documents. Use exact point deduplication for repeated points, or dissolve for polygon boundaries.

Are my files uploaded, and do I need an account?

No. This file operation runs in your browser and needs no account or payment. The page and processing libraries need an initial network load. Opening a map preview can request external map tiles; linked resources in your original KML are not fetched or embedded by this tool.
