Where does the nuclear reactor data come from?

From the World Nuclear Association's public reactor database, joined to plant coordinates, annual output (GWh, 1954-2025) and World Nuclear News headlines. The WNA reactor database is the reference source for the global nuclear fleet.

What do the reactor statuses mean?

Operable reactors are connected to the grid and generating. Under Construction reactors are being built. Planned reactors have official orders or firm government commitments. Permanently Shutdown reactors will not return to service.

How many operable reactors and how much capacity?

441 operable reactors totalling about 428 GW gross across 42 countries, led by the United States (~102 GW), China (~68 GW) and France (~66 GW). A further 80 reactors (~87 GW) are under construction, mostly in Asia.

What is included in the annual output field?

Each reactor carries its annual electricity output in GWh from 1954 to 2025 where WNA publishes it — the sum across all reactors tracks global nuclear generation (~2,670 TWh in 2024).
