Raster Preprocessing — Crop, Extract Band & Resample
Prepare a GeoTIFF or ASCII grid locally: crop to an extent, select a numeric band and resample before terrain analysis.
Input & limits
North-up numeric GeoTIFF or ESRI ASCII grid. Up to 50 MB, four million input cells and 250,000 output cells. RGB images and raster reprojection are outside this tool’s scope.
What you download
Numeric GeoTIFF with cell geometry, CRS, NoData and known units, plus a processing report.
How to use
- Choose a raster or load the geographic sample. Set the ASCII CRS explicitly.
- Choose a band, crop bounds and output size. Use map/grid picks or numeric bounds.
- Review snapped output bounds and values, then download or continue with statistics.
Frequently asked questions
Will resampling improve DEM accuracy?
No. Smaller cells interpolate the source; they do not add real terrain detail. Nearest-neighbor preserves categories, while bilinear is intended for continuous numeric values.
Are map pixels used for calculations?
No. Map previews are resampled displays. Processing uses the selected source band and the requested output grid.
