France Regions Boundaries — GeoJSON Download (13 Regions)
Quick answer: This page hosts all 13 French metropolitan regions as a single GeoJSON FeatureCollection under 100 KB, with a map preview, region codes for joining, and one-click download.
About this dataset
All 13 French metropolitan regions as one small hosted GeoJSON — under 100 KB, simplified from IGN ADMIN EXPRESS boundary data.
Download France region boundaries as GeoJSON: the 13 metropolitan regions in a single FeatureCollection carrying shapeName (Île-de-France, Centre-Val de Loire, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, Normandie, …), shapeISO (FR-IDF, FR-NAQ), and shapeID. The geometry derives from IGN's ADMIN EXPRESS product, the French national reference for administrative boundaries, and is simplified to about a 1 km tolerance so the whole national layer sits under 100 KB. These are the 13 regions created by the 2016 territorial reform, which merged several former regions — so a pre-2016 dataset keyed on the old 22-region map will not join cleanly. Corsica appears as its own feature with a special status rather than as part of a mainland region.

FAQ
Are these the 13 new regions or the old 22?
The 13 regions created by the 2016 territorial reform. If your data is keyed on the pre-2016 map with 22 metropolitan regions, it will not join cleanly — you will need to aggregate the old regions into the new ones first.
Are the overseas departments included?
This layer covers metropolitan France only. Guadeloupe, Martinique, Guyane, La Réunion, and Mayotte are overseas regions and territories with separate boundary products in IGN ADMIN EXPRESS.
What is Corsica's status in the file?
Corsica (collectivité de Corse) appears as its own feature with a special territorial status rather than being folded into a mainland region, matching how the source publishes it.
What attribution is required?
The layer derives from IGN under the Etalab Open Licence 2.0, which permits commercial reuse with attribution. The conventional credit is '© IGN — ADMIN EXPRESS'.
