Elevation Finder
Click or tap the map to add markers and get an estimated elevation for each point. Hover a marker to see its elevation and coordinates, and add multiple markers to compare different locations on an altitude map / elevation map.
How to use
- Move the map to the location you want to check.
- Click or tap to add a marker and read its elevation.
- Add more markers to compare elevations between points.
- Hover a marker to see its elevation and coordinates. Click a marker to remove it.
Notes
- Elevation is an estimate based on terrain tile data and may vary by area.
- Zoom in for more precise marker placement and better local detail.
- Results are shown in meters (m).
What this tool does
It queries the map terrain surface at each marker location and reports an estimated elevation for quick comparisons.
Privacy
Markers and coordinates are handled locally in your browser. GeoDataViewer does not store or log your points.
Data source
Terrain elevation is provided by Terrarium tiles hosted on Amazon S3.
Tips
Use multiple markers to compare elevations along a route, across a ridge, or between nearby landmarks.
